This Moon Tinted Smile
Sometimes, I gaze at the creamy crescent with love for a few minutes straight
Amidst amazement, a few solemn notes, a bout of passion up late
The sky is clear thanks to catharsis
The pervading thought swimming in my mind is that maybe
Just maybe, at some point during this same time period
That I swoon
She may also, just so happen - to be looking at the Moon
Thus the rocky satellite is an intermediary for our gaze
Towards the beloved amidst a starry maze
For this reason alone I can be classified as indebted to the Lunar sphere
But more so the one, that made her to my heart near
Beyond what Bashir’s body could ever muster, in exchange as he bled
Her dimples dance, bringing the morning sun out of bed
With generous gifts of guile
Her teeth sparkle the cosmos
With a moon tinted smile
This versification of her heart’s mirror
Composed beyond seas
Carried across all seven
And more by the breeze
It’s from الله
