Ab Hum Kya Batai?
How can I not love you with all of me when you are so outwardly, and inwardly manifest
Allah makes your self known to me in every little thing, hitting right in the chest
Rains attempt to extinguish the flame of this house
Love, Pyaar, Mohabbat, Ishq, Fanaa
All of them are a fiery family which water cannot douse
Oh tender quilted red jug of blood
Why do you not shun or push away this fire?
See how you did not hurriedly shun
Flames of love shoot as if rays from the sun
They burn the heart, alongside the liver and lung
And for this the chest quivers as it has been hung
And are you not aware of each organ’s own heart
Each suffers a unique misfortune related to the dart
Oh break of day’s gentle gale
I swear on your life, and it’s a difficult oath to take
If Queens of Paradise saw your chaand raat face
They would forget their namaaz and spill wines of pure love
If the Maharanis of India saw your hair in the wind
Or even in the dreams of you flying above
They would get on their knees and burn temples into thin air
If you want, go ahead and cast me into the deep fire of despair
I embark upon several strategies and plans
That this blazing fire within may somewhat subside
Each one more gruelling and painful that of the previous slide
To transmute, push down this love, perhaps even have it hide
I release a breeze for her own sake and so that the heated heart may cool
The fire increases a millionfold from what it was
What more can I say sisters and brethren
Unusual are the stories of our Lord and Love’s charted ways
Good health to you, O spring flower of heaven
How does it feel knowing that the qibla turns to you and prays
It’s from الله
