Though Affluence Be Ours

There’s something about being able to provide for your siblings even if your parents can, that lifts weight off your shoulders as a man. There’s something even better when you can provide for them and they don’t need it any more, just as a boost of rocket fuel here and there. I can’t fully explain it, it’s roots probably predate the caveman days, but I like it.

post qurbani, my dadi hugged me despite being on the farm for 8 hours, which means the kurta held up well. 👃🏼

Bathing in rose water mixed with a few drops of vetiver and lavender, towel smoked with Musk incense, a spritz of Aventus post moisturizer = Heaven On Earth

There’s something about providing for families that gets us up at dawn

To turn over side before the sun comes up, offer ablution, and yawn

Though affluence be ours, my splendour of fortune is for others

To keep the eyes open, and fire lit to stave off wolf and leopard

But herds were not made for the sake of the shepherd

The shepherd was intended for the service of sheep

Giving of his hands that which in others heart

Is often found deep

Get up oh bearer, perchance the road ahead is steep

It’s from الله
